Enrolling a Kindergarten Student

A kindergarten enrollee must meet the criteria for entering public school. There are specific age requirements mandated by State and District policy for entry into school. Students must be 5 years of age by Aug 31st to register and enroll in HomeLink classes.  Board Policy 5035

Out of District Variance - Choice Transfer

Students who live outside of the LSSD boundary may enroll unless variances to HomeLink are suspended by the School District. 

  • Contact the HomeLink registrar to discuss most current enrollment opportunities
    • If openings are available, contact your resident School District office or OSPI Choice Transfer Portal to request a Choice transfer.
    • Submit the LSSD Student Enrollment packet to the HomeLink Office/Registrar. 
  • The choice transfer/variance request and LSSD Student Enrollment/ registration paperwork will be reviewed together.

Admission of Non-Resident Students

If you live outside of the Lake Stevens School District boundaries and want to attend a Lake Stevens school, you can apply for a Choice Transfer Request. Full details of procedures for acceptance and denial are listed in School Board Policy 5020 and under WAC 392-137-195.
